Veritas Storage Foundation 4.x and prior: Avoid swapvol sync During Reboot
Host running Solaris[TM] version 2.6 or above with Veritas Storage Foundation 4.x or below installed, any maintenance on a system that requires a reboot will cause the swapvol to enter a SYNC status upon reboot.
This can be confirmed by reviewing the output from the vxtask list command.
NOTE: If the host is stable, swapvol should never go to sync state. It is observed that after adding patches and rebooting the host, swapvol goes into sync state.
Since swapvol and /tmp contents are recreated upon reboot, according to vxvol an page (see below), we can set the ‘norecov’ option to stop the resync upon reboot.
Extract from the vxvol man page:
Use the following command to stop the resync upon reboot.
# vxvol set start_opts="norecov" swapvol
