  5. Shahul says:

Hi .. Could you please share steps to install en_US.UTF-8 on solaris 10 . Need it urgently.

    • Ramdev says:

Sahul, you can install it with

      localeadm -a ceu -d locale-path-from-install-DVD

if you want quety if a specifi locales installed or not

      1.localeadm -q ceu -d locale-path-from-install-DVD

after installation it will create a log basically located at /var/sadm/install/logs/localeadmin_*

And I guess, you can check the information of installed locales from the file /usr/sadm/lib/localeadm/locales.list

  6. Yogesh Raheja says:

    Hi Sahul,
you need to install SUNWeuluf and SUNWeu8os packages. 1.) Mount the media (solaris dvd if you have). 2.) cd to the package location 3.) Run pkgadd 4.) Once installed check the pkg installation pkginfo -l

    • Ramdev says:

Sahul, yes what ever yogesh directed is sure shot way to install the locale you requested for … Thanks to yogesh for figuring out exact packages, required.

Please keep below points in mind while installing locales, in future :

Generally , locale installation is just more than a normal package installation since it provides an environment to your system based on geographical location .. it always requires a set of interrelated packages installed in a specific sequence. Previous to solaris 10, we have to look for the sequence and install the packages one by one in a sequence, from solaris10 onwards we had a tool ” localeadm ” which will take care of the all the related packages identification and dependencies by giving locale name as input and the installation image path.

  7. Shahul says:

Thanks Yogesh and Ramdev for your comments..Appreciate if you can provide the logs..if you have done it ,so that i cant perform that in production with confidence.

I recommend better not to do it on production, directly. Please pick a test box with similar build ( version ) and test it before.
