Solaris Troubleshooting NIS: How to completely remove NIS from all machines

By following below steps we can NIS from client, Slave Server and Master Servers


 

=====================================

REMOVE NIS FROM MASTER SERVER

=====================================

Login as root.

1.   rm /etc/defaultdomain

2.   # cp /etc/nsswitch.files /etc/nsswitch.conf

If DNS is running, edit /etc/nsswitch.conf to read:

hosts:   files dns

3.   # cd /var/yp

4.   rm *.time

5.   rm -r <domainname>

6.   rm -r binding

7.   reboot

Login as root.

1.   rm /etc/defaultdomain

2.   # cp /etc/nsswitch.files /etc/nsswitch.conf

If DNS is running, edit /etc/nsswitch.conf to read:

hosts:   files dns

3.   # cd /var/yp

4.   rm -r <domainname>

5.   rm -r binding

6.   reboot

1.   rm /etc/defaultdomain

2.   # cp /etc/nsswitch.files /etc/nsswitch.conf

If DNS is running, edit /etc/nsswitch.conf to read:

4.   rm -r binding

5.   reboot
